Meet the boobiesexuals

-- Ogling breasts isn't just for straight men and lesbians anymore. Moving beyond traditional labels, gay men and straight women are outing themselves as "boobiesexuals." The term was coined by podcaster Cunning Minx (polyweekly.libsyn.com) to stand for "women who are mostly straight but who are really, really into women's breasts." I've expanded it to include gay men. This new breed is committed to their sexual orientation, but acknowledges that, like the horniest of frat boys or Hooters customers, they're turned on by tits. --

[...]

-- Boobiesexuals mess with our strictly defined norms. What does it mean to be aroused by a woman, or at least her tits, but not want to have sex with her? They counter our very simplistic ideas about lust—if you're into me, you must want to @!$%# me—when true desire is more complex. Minx, who's in an open relationship, believes that kinky and polyamorous people are open to nuanced views of eroticism. "Sexual labels are convenient; it's much easier to say, 'I'm bisexual' than to say, 'I'm mostly straight and really into cocks, but I've been with a woman once or twice and can take or leave it, except for the breasts, which I grope at every opportunity . . . and it's entirely possible that I simply haven't met the right woman,' " she explains. --

One has to wonder at what point this seemingly-arbitrary distribution of labels will find its (il)logical extreme and cease to be. Just when people were starting to cope with the term "metrosexual," we get this bone thrown at us. Give me a break.

Makes perfect sense to me. For most of us -- male, female, straight, gay, bi, trans, a -- boobs were our very first object of desire.

I'm an ass man myself. Not in that way though. Breasts come a close second.

One has to wonder why seemingly self-important people like Y.Roth have trouble 'coping' with labels like metrosexual and boobiesexual. I mean, really, give me a break.

Personally the first thing I notice about a woman is her face and most especially her lips. I am a freak about sexy lips. Ass is probably close second, then boobs, although I love boobs too, so it is all relative.

I think that quote was originally about "the judicious use of high explosives".

Another bone from "Coupling": think what happens if breast implants reach critical mass when aboard a plane flying above FL130.

This is a very interesting article. One of the things that crossed my mind as I was reading this article, along with the comments, was that this new term isn't something to be put beside other terms such as straight, gay, bi, etc. I think it is important to keep this in mind when reading, because it seems that others take "boobiesexual" to a place where it simply does not belong. When I think "boobiesexual," I picture it as something more detail oriented. An example would be:
Someone is homosexual - describing their sexuality in general
But they are also "boobiesexual" - describing a more detailed portion of their sexuality
(Hopefully that was understandable. If not, feel free to ask questions, as I will try my best to answer them)

Gotta love the Cunning Minx. Cute term, but labels are really such horrible things.

This is just rad. Particularly the word "ass-sexual." I am laughing and regressing to the mental age of twelve.

But seriously, I feel like boobs are in our faces all the time! In pop culture (US at least), boobs = sex, therefore it makes perfect sense for lots of people (gay, straight, whatever) to have a Pavlovian response. I just saw boobs, therefore somebody's going to get it on.

Ha, that would be some weird complex if you just randomly saw boobs. That would be really distracting.

That would be so much fun.

Unless you were giving a speech or something, in very thin pants. Then it becomes embarrassing.

Does anyone else see boobs and immediately make a decision about their "authenticity?" I don't find a woman nearly as attractive if I can tell she has had augmentation. It probably has to do with who I am attracted to and how my ideal woman wouldn't want to change her body, but I'm curious if others go through this thought process.

      Anyone?

Totally. and i always look for the tell tale surgery scars. I once had a girl friend with 34DD breasts who defied this logic however. Totally natural but well shaped. At night I slept with two extra pillows. But anyway, I have noticed however that a lot of my female friends get a little tense when they see an attractive girl who is obviously proud of her assets and who is not afraid to show it. The comments are usually along the lines of 'Oh look at her, those are so fake. Bimbo'.

But you're right I'd probably find an all natural woman more attractive if that is what I thought she was. If I thought she had surgery I don't think I'd find her as attractive.

      I don't have to worry though, I'm ass-sexual ;)

gzirra, I think we'll need to refine the term slightly to avoid confusion.

Wasn't it fanny? Note I'm not .ukian or .usian, so I probably don't remember the colloquialism right.

            I like the term fanny-sexual.

It is official. Newsvine has transcended something in this post. Not sure what, but something.

In any case, I was thinking about how obsessed I am with breasts just the other day. I'm a modest guy known for respecting women and being polite, but I still am frequently guilty of the whole "Hey, buddy, my eyes are up here." And not just with women I'm particularly attracted to. It is like my eyes compulsively check out the tits without my approval. I've never been called on it, so I must not be as bad as some others, but I've caught myself and felt awkward about it before.

Yeah, try drawing an imaginary line at the neck, then just concentrate above that line. Although I might have freaked some girls out doing that because in my effort to avoid boobs I end up staring intently at their head.

Some females--especially me--don't mind when men look a bit lower, and even may get a bit annoyed if men don't look lower....because taht is why I'm wearing a low-cut shirt, ffs....grin

Gwen, it's a very fine line for us (at least here in .pt); think of it this way: we guys are always nervous, right? We might be capable of playing it cool, but the nervousness is there anyway. and you girls are the one who decide; you already know if we're going to get kissed or not.

We have to stay there and just keep on going, always thinking "have I just said something foolish?" or other things in a similar vein.
