I still think that demanding (or expecting) an apology from Muslims is like demanding one from Christians when an abortion clinic gets bombed. They shouldn't have to defend their religion just because extremists are giving it a bad name. There are billions of Muslims in the world, and only a small fraction of those are violent.
I agree that they do not have to defend their religion (defending their religion is different from condemning terrorist attacks though). It is not their fault some people abuse their religion in order to get violent. I do not remember where God or Allah or whatever other deity approves of killing innocent people.
I posted a comment somewhere else on Newsvine about a young man getting killed in Brussels central train station because he did not want to give up his MP3 player.
At first it was said this was done by people of Maghreb descent. There were interviews on television with representatives of the Moroccan community, where they were not only condemning the act, but apologising as well.
Then later on, it turned out the perpetrators were two youngsters from Poland. On television then they showed interviews with people from Poland that are living in Brussels. They were not only shocked about what happened, but they were shocked it was someone with the Polish nationality that committed the crime. They went out of their way to stress that Poles are not like that.
Finally they caught the perpetrators, and they turned out to be Poles, but of Roma descent. And then you could hear all kinds of prejudices about Roma gypsies.
