Garbage.

Garbage, garbage, The Who going on tour, garbage.

Who are you? You are a band that should not go on tour.

Let me guess: tickets are several hundred dollars each, even for the crappie seats.

The only part of this subject [albeit a peripheral one] that's interesting to me is that there are no new "big band" acts anymore.

It's the "old" acts that are coming back to fill stadiums (e.g.: Rolling Stones, The Who, etc), whereas the pipeline of "new" acts to take their place seems to be dry.

The old stadium shows are being replaced by Warped Tour, Lallopalloozawtf (sp?), Ozzfest, etc ... which feature a variety of small/smaller/smallish acts with a couple of pseudo-headliners, instead of your garden-variety old-school stadium show, which featured 1 opener and 1 headliner (e..g.: Driving 'n Crying opening for Aerosmith at Sullivan Stadium). Hell, even Metallica is sort of old-school these days, in terms of their age (the average age of a member of Metallica is like 62 - right?). Where does Bruce Springsteen fit in all of this? ACDC - those guys are octogenarians now.

Where are the new Guns & Roses, Aerosmiths, Bon Jovis ... for the 2000s?
(You know what i'm talking about - everyone listened to the BR* musical genre in the 80's).

* Butt-rockers.

The last concert I saw, very recently, was a Woven Hand concert, in an open air theatre with a capacity of 1350 peope. I'm looking forward to Sfinks festival and a couple of other festivals. I'll probably attend the Johnny Dowd concert in October and the Sergent Garcia concert in December. Guess I'm not the stadium show type of gal.

For what it's worth, The Who are still one helluvan act to see. (At least, they were before their bassist died. It'll be interesting to see who replaces him.) Daltry doesn't have the stamina (vocally) that he once had but his voice is damn good for most of a performance and not distractingly bad once he can't hit some of the notes. He simply adjusts. Townshend is just as good as he's ever been and both are pretty kick ass when it comes to performing.

Seeing Daltry twirl that Microphone is pretty damn impressive.

They're also putting out a new album soon -- time will tell if it's any good or if it's an excuse to tour. I liked a couple of new songs they put out a couple of years ago on a hits package. Tonwshend has always been a great writer and I don't see why age would have dulled that skill.

I would also note that Pearl Jam is still touring the old-fashioned way. Unfortunately, they're not coming anywhere -near- Kansas City.

I have nothing but respect for a group of old men that can still entertain the masses. I almost put this in the same category as the 70 year-old that runs a marathon. Here's one for you, what act of today under the age of 30 can you see performing (not including Vegas and your local Casino) 35 years from now?
