the problem Irma is that when I (as a lebanese) try to argue with an Israeli that sound reasonable, somebody else will jump in with anti-jewish slogans and ruin the whole conversation. These people don't care about the palestinians or the lebanese; they just want to use their misery to bash Jews.
"We had built a fragile bridge between our two cultures. Yet, as with every other bridge built over the years, it was cruelly destroyed by barbarism ... This is one bridge I don't want to rebuild."
This quote touched me most I guess.
There's a lot of talk about the current events in the Middle East, over here on Newsvine and elsewhere. Most of us are at safe distance, which gives us the luxury of expressing our views, based on what we (think we) know. Some of us just want to vent, some of us try to 'get smarter here'.
I try to put myself in other people's shoes. But I think it's impossible to fully comprehend what it's like. As in each and every war, innocents are suffering most. Wish I had a solution, but I have not.
Seeing you are fairly new to Newsvine, let me welcome you. Wish the circumstances would have been different.
