This reminds me of a children's story from my youth. Once upon a time...there was a kid that lied so much than when he once told the truth no one believed him. Me too begin to doubt this plot thing, even if there's some truth around it.

Afonso is referring to one of Aesop's fables: The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Then there's the saying about putting your head in the sand.

That's what the little boys who cry wolf always say when people start to realize that the big bad wolf is not so big, not so bad, and not so close.

so far the police have not found any liquid explosive material

And also we know that none of these people who were supposedly to carry out the operation in a few days had bought air tickets.

Wow..this is very interesting.. I really don't know what to say. If this turns out to be some governments attempt trying to get attention, like Pakistan.(remember the time, when they said they are really close of catching Osama's NO.2 in Pakistan and it got such a media hype and it turned out nothing) and I just spent $30 buying new deo's, shaving cream, hair gel and shampoo, I will be really upset.

Perhaps they are ashamed that members of their faith could do something like that and they are in denial.

perhaps they know some of the muslims involved.
Perhaps they also know science and know the plot would have been dificult to say the least.
perhaps they are weary of the starnge questions sourrounding the plot.
Perhaps they reconise the many times they have been lied to before or have had things overly hyped..

Just remember the socalled terrorists in florida were christians but i guess non of you will appologise for them.
I guess none of you are in deniale that it could very well happen in your religion too.

I am also glad you have such rock hard faith in your elected officials that you refuse to blieve that anything could be misleading or unethical.. In very job there are evil people even in ellected ones.. look at all the people in recent years leaving congress in disgrace. You dont think it could be at the very least hyped? This plan was supposidly in it's final stages, you would thik they would have tickets already.

But maybe I am in denile, but i wopuld rather believe someone i have never met than someone who has lied to me before.

This is a story that will not help the so called Muslim Leaders in Britain coming after their letter to Tony Blair. The UK Labour Government may be lacking leadership and direction but that is not an excuse for blowing up your neighbours. Most of us left our home countries to live in a world where the rule of law works better and in a society in which racial diversity is supported, understood, valued and respected. The letter excusing the work of the misguided youths and their Imams is a sorry contribution to a society which enjoy equality of opportunity and equal protection.

In the same way prior to 7/7 the Muslim Leaders in Britain closed their minds, and now

"And also we know that none of these people who were supposedly to carry out the operation in a few days had bought air tickets."

"My fear is that it all probably started in Pakistan," Siddiqui said. "General Musharraf's position is very, very bad, and he wanted to do something to win favour of George Bush and Tony Blair."

Well, you are not the only ones having problems with world's tyranny and we can only resolve these problems with all hands on deck. 7/7 was real for us all and it is foolish to wait for a repeat when you spent your little effort with eyes closed.

Once again, turning our heads when we should be looking them square in the eyes, when will this stop?

How come the .IPS banner graphic on the webpage is a jpeg with jpeg waves?

Tell the webmaster to send me the graphic. I can clean it up.

Where do you get these web sites, Irma? You actually trust them?

Another warning sign is that they are a '.net' instead of a '.com'.

TLD's (top level domain) are hardly an indicator of credibility unless it's .edu or .gov. Anyone with the money can get a .com, .net, .org, .us, etc. for less than $10 a year.

Ugly Bastard,

Another warning sign is that they are a '.net' instead of a '.com'.

Authorize.net is a ".net" site and guess what..they run credit card processes to about at least 5% of businesses in the US. And if you shop online, high chances you may have processes your credit card through them at least once.

Here are other ".net" sites taken from Alexa's top 100 sites in the US. Alexa's Top 100

Comcast.net
earthlink.net
passport.net
sourceforge.net
bellsouth.net
slickdeals.net
secureserver.net

You may want to take a stroll around the internet before casting unnecessary senseless judgement.

I agree cjlewis, that was a rather senseless judgement. However, I don't even bother replying to Ugly Bastard anymore, because he always seems to apply a hit and run technique, and doesn't even bother to check back to see whether there are any replies. Or, if he does, he doesn't bother to comment any further. Which makes me think, why waste my time?

There's a lot of polemics from both sides in this thread, let's just look at the facts so far:

- no tickets
- no definitive motive
- no definitive evidence of bomb-making

It's a shaky case, no matter what the truth of the matter is. So the question becomes not really one of "were they really plotting" so much as "if this is really a bombing plot, why did they go ahead with arrests based on such flimsy evidence?" And the question that could be asked based on this, of course, is whether the Bush Administration forced this into the spotlight for political reasons, thus forcing the British government to take action prematurely.

We'll see...
