"None," the police officer in charge reported to my student.
That was the answer to how many instances of rape of males and boys had been reported in the city (it happened to be Boston, where I was teaching at the time) in the previous year.
My student was incredulous. He knew of more than one. None was simply not a plausible answer. What was going on?

Great seed, Irma. Important information. I think it is shame that keeps anyone from reporting. I imagine for teen age guys to have to say they were raped by a man must be incredibly difficult. They're already up tight about sexuality issues. It must be horrifying.
Bah...the stroke was a little too broad up there. Ignore the first word in the next to last sentence ('They're' and substitute "Some are")

True. I think it's the same with intra family violence. Women in abusive relationships is one thing, but for a man to admit he's being abused (emotionally or physically) by a woman seems taboo.
