Though I don't believe Asda intended to incite rape with the slogan which attracted complaints, I can understand why those who did complain consider the slogan to be an incitement to rape. However, I don't believe the linking of the conviction rate for rape and this issue is appropriate. What happens in courts with regards rapists isn't anything to do with Asda.

To me, it seemed like "incitement to waste your money on someone else." I didn't get it.

To say it incited rape is perhaps a bit harsh. But in a nutshell, the t-shirt is saying "get her drunk and you might just be able to take her home". Now I'm not a young woman and never will be, but if a man I didn't really like was hitting on me and I saw him wearing that t-shirt there's not a chance in hell I'd let him get anywhere near me.

The attitude it purveys is very much one of getting a girl whatever the cost, suggests he doesn't give a damn about the woman, couldn't care less who he gets, just as long as he gets his bit of fun no matter what methods are used. The attitude is completely wrong for a chain such as Asda to effectively promote - it's a bad joke that shouldn't have got past the drawing board.

As a young(ish) woman, I don't think I'd let him anywhere near me either. I wouldn't be in the least bit interested in the kind of bloke who would actually like wearing that sort of thing.

I'm neither a feminist, a raging PC-ist nor a woman who can't handle the daily male/female war etc. I have a good sense of humour (I have to where I work) and I can appreciate that in context that joke could be as funny as any other joke. But the fact someone would actually spend money on that tshirt is just bizarre to me.

And really, I'm not as much of a bore as I sound. Honestly.

This is just ignorant. They should outlaw all printed t-shirts and make everyone wear uniforms and get it over with.
