iPods can cause cardiac implantable pacemakers to malfunction by interfering with the electromagnetic equipment monitoring the heart, according to a study presented by a 17-year-old high school student to a meeting of heart specialists on Thursday.

The article isn't clear about which iPods, but I assume it is the version with the internal hard drive. I would suspect that the magnets in the hard drive motor are causing the problem. It would be interesting to see if it causes problems even when the iPod's battery is fully discharged.
I wonder if this will be used by others to bash the iPod once again.
