Of course, now I see all kinds of messages about how the rumour it was a hoax was going round for days. Funny how there were no such messages before the show ... It was very well done, and I bet for many it came as a surprise when, at the end of the show, just before the woman was to announce who she picked, the host explained how she was an actress and the three potential receivers of her kidney, in on the scheme.

Yes but they are still saying it went too far, some people are just naturally conservative I suppose :")

I hope more Dutch people will consider making a choice about organ donation. Years and years ago, everyone was sent a letter, with a reply form, in which everyone could make their choice known. There were 4 options: donate, not donate, leave the decision to the next of kin, or leave the decedsion to one particular person. I've still got the credit card format card with my choice in my wallet.

I like the Belgian opt-out system.

Ah, I seeded this earlier, not realizing you'd started this. I'll steer anyone who comes
to the two pieces I seeded to this discussion.

I think this whole idea - hoax or not - was in incredibly poor taste. It makes the guy who
made the anatomically-correct chocolate jesus seem sensitive and p.c. and
empathetic in comparison.

I don't believe in p.c. and while I agree the method was, let's say, unorthodox, the 'donor show' wasn't as terrible as it sounds. I watched the show, and while at times I sensed something was going on (the three candidates gave each other just too many understanding looks), I didn't really expect this ending, although I'm glad it did turn out this way.

The so-called reasons for eliminating candidates (there were 25 to begin with), were interesting, from a psychological point of view ((I would have been eliminated). I also think it makes the topic more real, as it showed the people behind those waiting lists.
